Founding Family FAQs

  • We’re opening 75 spots. These families will seed the first invitation waves.

  • A short intake form and video call are required in the application process.

  • If you are joining as hosts, your home must be available for a minimum of 1 month between now and summer 2027.

    If you are joining as guests, you must plan on traveling and staying in one location for a consecutive month between now and summer 2027.

  • Founding Family membership costs $399 per year. The annual membership price will increase once we hit 75 families.

  • Your membership is front‑dated to begin on our official launch date. Joining now gives you access to support and matchmaking before launch without using up any membership time.

  • No, you do not need to own a home in order to join GFHR.

  • We’ll provide listing guidance, rental agreement templates, and hands‑on help with your first matches prior to launch.

  • GFHR is built specifically for families—both hosts and guests. Our community is filled with members who value exploring the world together as a family.

  • Every stay is a minimum of one month, making it easier for host families to manage and giving guest families a true home-away-from-home. No weekly turnovers, just stability and consistency.

  • Once a booking is approved by both families, pay and get paid however works best—Venmo, Wise, Revolut, or bank transfer. One flat annual fee to join. No transaction fees, no friction.

  • Homes are not searchable to the public. Only GFHR members will be able to view home listings on the marketplace.

Three years ago we became location-independent and started slow-traveling the world with our 3-year-old daughter.

As a Founding Family and early members of the sales team at Boundless Life, we’ve helped hundreds of families take the same leap we did. Thousands of conversations with families gave us a front-row seat to the biggest challenges they face when traveling long-term.

Homeowners don’t want to double-pay rent and mortgage or rent to just anyone. Renters want affordable, safe, kid-friendly homes where they can plug into a real community.

So, we built Global Family Home Rentals—a trusted, invite-only marketplace designed to solve both sides of the equation.

Our Membership Model Explained

We’re not like most booking platforms—and that’s by design. Instead of charging high transaction fees every time you book, we’ve chosen a flat annual membership model. It’s a pricing structure built to support upfront connection, consistent community, and real savings.

Why no transaction fees? Most platforms earn money only when you book. That’s why they block your ability to connect until after payment—hiding phone numbers and emails addresses. We believe the relationship should come first. Families are encouraged to connect, hop on video calls, and build trust—before booking.

Why annual, not monthly? Community isn’t built in 30 days. An annual membership encourages long-term commitment, a shared sense of purpose, and trust. It also acts as a natural filter—ensuring everyone here is truly invested in the community, not just passing through.

Why it’s worth it? Homes on GFHR are listed at below-market rates because our hosts price their homes to cover costs, not profit. That means families can save thousands per trip making the annual fee pay for itself.

  • GFHR brings together traveling families who want to rent out their homes while away or book family-friendly homes for one month of more at prices that cover costs. Your annual membership gives you access to:

    • The GFHR Marketplace where you can list, search, and book homes.

    • The GFHR Community where you can connect with other families and access resources.

    You can participate as a host, guest, or both.

  • Membership for GFHR Founding Families is $399 per year and includes full access to both the marketplace and community platforms. Once we achieve 75 Founding Families, the membership fee will increase. There are no transaction or service fees—just one annual membership and the cost of your stays.

  • No. You can participate as a host, a guest, or both with no requirement to do one or the other. If you are a home owner but prefer to use GFHR just as a guest, you are more than welcome to and not required to list your home. GFHR is designed to work for your family, whatever your travel goals are.

  • No. GFHR is not a home swap platform. (Remember, you do not have to own a home in order to join!) Host families list their homes at a monthly price that covers their costs and guest families can book directly.

  • GFHR is a private community to help ensure trust and alignment among members.

    There are two ways to join:

    1. Be invited by a current GFHR member. Each member can send invitations from inside the platform. Invitations are sent via email.

    2. Apply for an invitation if you don’t know an existing member (yet).

    Once your membership is approved, you’ll get full access to the marketplace and community where you can create your family profile, list your home and/or browse available rentals, and start connecting with like-minded families.
